Summer Camp Packing List

Required Items

Clothing

  • Class A Uniform including:
    • Scout Pants or Scout Shorts
    • Scout Uniform Shirt
    • Neckerchief & Slide
    • Scout Socks
    • Scout Belt
    • OA Sash (if in OA)
    • You DO NOT need  your merit badge sash
  • Clothes hanger to hang uniform
  • Long Pants (1 pair)
  • Shorts (3-5 pairs)
  • Shirts
    • T-shirts or Tank Tops (6-8)
      • Class B t-shirts if you have them otherwise any t-shirt you would wear to school is acceptable
    • Sweatshirt or Long Sleeve Shirt (1)
    • Fleece or Lightweight Jacket (1)
  • Swim Trunks (1-2 pairs)
  • Fleece or Lightweight Jacket (1)
  • Sleep Clothes
  • Rain Gear
  • Underwear (8-10 pairs) (synthetic material is recommended)
  • Socks (8-10 pairs)
  • Shoes
    • Hiking Shoes (1 pair)
    • Sneakers (1 pair)
    • Crocs or Flip Flops for shower shoes (1 pair)

Camp Gear

  • Mess Kit including:
    • Plate & Bowl
    • Drinking Cup (optional)
    • Utensils (Knife, Fork & Spoon)
  • Flashlight or Headlamp (recommended)
  • Cheap digital watch w/ alarm
  • Day Pack
  • Small Notebook
  • Pens & Pencils
  • Suntan Lotion (non-aerosol only)
  • Bug Spray
    • If you are sleeping in a hammock, make sure your bug spray is DEET-free as DEET will dissolve the nylon material hammocks are made of
  •  Mesh Laundry Bag for dirrty clothes
  • Spending Money (for snacks/souvenirs at the trading post)
    • We recommend putting some money in their care packages or provide daily envelopes to hand out to them to keep them from spending it all at once
    • Typical Camp Prices
      • Class B Camp T-Shirts ($20.00)
      • Pocket Knifes ($8-$10)
      • Ice Cream & Floats ($2-$3)

Sleeping Gear

  • Pillow
  • Sleeping Bag (40 bag recommended for colder nights)
  • Lightweight Fleece Blanket (for warmer nights)

Bathroom Supplies

  • Shower Towel (1)
  • Beach Towel (1)
  • Toiletries
    • Deodorant
    • Shampoo and Soap or Body Wash
    • Toothbrush & Toothpaste

Optional Items

  • Hammock
    • Nylon Slap Straps to hang hammock (rope is not allowed to be used)
    • Rainfly (troop tarps may not be used as a rainfly)
    • You still must setup and maintain your tent even if sleeping in a hammock
  • Battery Powered Fan (or rechargeable -- BRING YOUR OWN CHARGER)
  • Lock w/ Extra Key for Footlocker
    • Combination Locks are also acceptable as long as  you provide the combination to the leaders in case you forget it
  • Books, Games and/or Playing Cards (for downtime)
  • Scout Book
  • Battery Powered Lantern (for your tent)
  • Extra Batteries
  • Fishing Gear (you can bring even if you are not taking the fishing merit badge)
  • Electronics
    • Scouts may bring electronic devices to use during the trip to/from summer camp
    • ALL electronic devices will be collected on Sunday at lunchtime and locked away until we depart on Saturday
    • Please note -- there is NO CELL SERVICE anywhere in any of the summer camps that we go to
